MITZVAH PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ
What type of mitzvah photography do you do?
Great question! I take the portraits surrounding this special milestone: family portraits, and a fun individual “pre-session” of the mitzvah child.
Do these always take place at a synagogue?
Totally up to you! For family photos, we can take them at your house of worship, outdoors at a park, or at your home, or any combination of the above. If you’d like to take them at your synagogue it’s your responsibility to coordinate with the temple admin (and please check the date/time with me).
For an individual "pre"-session, fun locations like the murals in Jersey City, the beach (weather permitting), a local downtown village, or a pretty park are great options.
Will you photograph my mitzvah party?
Likely not, but I know some really great event photographers. I have shot a few low-key backyard mitzvah parties but I don’t do big events. It’s just not my speciality. Let me know if you’re having something casual and we can talk more.
What’s the investment?
A B'Mitzvah family portrait session starts at $650:
This session is about one hour and provides approx. 50 final images you can download. It’s usually the week before the B'mitzvah (but can be earlier) and includes immediate family members. Grandparents and extended family are additional.
A B'Mitzvah individual "pre"-session starts at $550:
Depending on location(s), the length of this session can vary. It might be an hour, or could be up to two hours. This also determines the number of final images provided (between 40-75). This is a very fun session for the B'mitzvah kid where their personality shines and they can totally be themselves.
I love the photos! Now what?
Great question! Often these images are incorporated into the decor of your party (especially the individual shots of the B’mitzvah child) but not a must.
Don’t let your photos go to the digital graveyard. Print them!! I love designing albums - this a very common item to order after the Mitzvah. I also offer photo art (metal, wooden and canvas), standard prints, and digital files. I personally own all the items I offer, and love them all.
